We All Have Questions
When you're planning there are so many questions running around in your head.
I've tried to answer some of the most common ones, mostly in regards to weddings, that come up from the practical to the emotional.
Whilst I hope all this is helpful, I'm always at the end of the phone and sometimes just chatting things through is the best way.
Also please do check out my musings for tips and advice and why I'm your best friend for the day.
What about group shots?
Let's not approach these with dread. They have a significance but it depends how they're done. Primarily our shooting style is based on observation, candid moments and creatively shot so your groups shots are a SMALL fraction of your day but here's the thing..... it doesn't have to take long, we're super organised and it can be fun! but in years to come you will be grateful you have them!
You can have formal family shots then more relaxed bridal party shots, sometimes we'll have a more editorial look....... we always go with the vibe of your day and what suits....
Why A Second Shooter?
The best investment made years ago was to find an awesome second shooter. Wooden Hill has a second shooter at every wedding. It is how we work.
'Teamwork is Dreamwork' and the ability to offer different dynamics and angles , a shooter assigned to oversee each of you in the morning, coverage of live moments whilst group shots are being done, different positionings during the ceremony... We get everywhere! and also...... twice the fun!
Camera Issues
We are working with technology all the time and although we use high end professional kit, things can happen..... However, at weddings I work off two cameras all day, as does a second shooter. We also have back up cameras if needed. We shoot on dual cards each, so all cameras and the action are well backed up. We have a back up person in a second shooter if anything were to happen (remember Covid? yep, we had it covered)
How long is a family session?
Family shoots are about an hour. Depending on the age of the participants, the odd bribery snack as a reward at the end is a wise move! It goes quickly. Sessions with young children are more child led and very organic so we basically just have a lovely time. Newborn sessions are longer but that's is simply because we allow time for nappy changes, feeds, and a nap (that's just me!). Newborn sessions aim for the hour but it isn't set in stone.
What if it rains?
Well........... We don't panic! We laugh it off and use our catalogue of experience to offer solutions where needed and shoot the day AS IT IS...... Mother Nature doesn't ruin a wedding day she merely presents us with opportunities and the chance for a story unique to you.
If you know its going to rain, buy umbrellas, they don't cost much and can make for fun pictures, or we simply get wet. This has been known too! I said i like the outdoors! Brace yourself!
Do couple shots take ages?
Yes brace yourself, they take a very long time........ JOKING!
NO, of course not! This is the bit i feel i need to reassure you the most! We may grab an opportune moment or have a short walk whilst guests are being seated or before your evening do. It's micro moments of time and also the chance for you to have have some time together, which can be rare on a busy wedding day.
So value that time for yourselves. Its about you as a couple being yourselves and it's fun. Promise!
Can I Share My Photos on Socials
PLEASE DO !! That's the aim is that you enjoy them and share them. The only thing i ask is to be tagged so that people are aware of the creator (believe it or not this is vital to our businesses) Other than that, share away
What Are My Rights To Print
Your images all have personal printing rights and this is what your images are for, to be printed and enjoyed. Frame them, smile when you look at your gorgeous selves hanging above the mantelpiece. That makes this photographer very happy. It's heart warming to visit client's homes and see frames on the walls of your wedding, your newborns and your families and see them where they were created for.
